External Examiners

Thank you for becoming a Liverpool Hope University external examiner.

We at Liverpool Hope see our external examiners as one of the key safeguards for the academic standards of our programmes. External examiners act as independent and impartial advisers who provide us with informed comment on our academic standards and on student achievement in relation to those standards.

We appreciate that you are undertaking a demanding task. Therefore, what you tell us will be taken very seriously, discussed immediately by the programme team you have worked with and the Department housing the programme, and later on in various committees to ensure we do not overlook any of the university-wide implications of your comments.

Liverpool Hope has been admitting students to Liverpool Hope University degrees since 2003 and has a small number of students still registered on University of Liverpool awards. Needless to say, both are of equal quality and standing. Since 2005, when Liverpool Hope received full University status, we have undertaken work on a wide range of new curriculum developments and structural and regulatory changes.

It is not always easy to keep up-to-date with these Hope-internal developments, and with the rapidly changing external environment but the External Examiners' Resources website has been designed to help you by bringing together the most relevant documents and information sources. Some of the documents you may already be familiar with; others provide information on Liverpool Hope's special mission and history. The annual event for external examiners, now taking place in March each year, will also support you in your work.

I am personally looking forward to a period of fruitful co-operation and trust that you too will find the constructive and open exchanges of views on academic matters productive and worthwhile. Thank you for your contribution to the University.

Welcome to Liverpool Hope University!
