APPLYING FOR ACCOMMODATION IN HALLSWe are currently only taking applications for the academic year 2009/10. Further information for the academic year 2010/11 will be available in late March.
Living in Halls is the first thing many students think of when choosing to live away from home for the first time. Halls provide a secure base from which students can live and study, knowing that there is help and support close at hand when it is needed. There are thousands of privately owned halls available nowadays, many of them conveniently located in the City centre. However, students should always look carefully at what is offered as some landlords charge for bills like fuel costs and internet access, separately. At Liverpool Hope our standard undergraduate contract period is 36 weeks, whereas many private landlords have a 42 week or 51 week contract, which you may sign up for and then find you are paying for weeks you do not need.
Liverpool Hope AccommodationLiverpool Hope University has a range of residential accommodation types at prices to suit most budgets. All the Halls on offer to our students are owned and managed by Liverpool Hope University or a landlord partner with whom we have an agreement. All the accommodation has 24 hour staffed security and there are resident tutors living in or near the accommodation to help and support you. The location of accommodation is very important – students will find that wherever they stay they will be no more than a few miles away from where their course is taught. Our Hope Park accommodation is actually on the campus where most of the teaching and support facilities can be found. A shuttle bus is available for residents in our off-campus accommodation, so you will have no problems commuting to and from Hope Park. Our accommodation has a minimum of a bed, desk, wardrobe, wash basin and basic cooking facilities. Self-catering rooms have a full kitchen and dining area and many of our rooms have additional facilities, such as internet access or telephone connection. All our room charges include heating and hot water, so students do not have to worry about budgeting separately for these bills. Resident TutorsWe have a structure of Senior Resident Tutors, Resident Tutors and Senior Students to support students living in Halls. Every Hall has at least one Resident Tutor and it is their job to ensure that you are enjoying yourself. You can ask them about anything that is worrying you. They will be the people who organise social events and regular Hall meetings, but they are also responsible for ensuring that an acceptable standard of behaviour is maintained (refer to Students’ Guide) and they can take action to discipline students who act unreasonably.
