Little Star Productions Success at Regional FinalsWednesday 30 May 2012
As a bid to promote an enterprising culture within Liverpool Hope, we applied for a business start-up programme called Young Enterprise back in September 2011. The programme initially took off in January 2012 giving undergraduate and post graduate students the opportunity to voice their business ideas in front a panel of judges. Furthermore the winning ‘pitch’ would have the opportunity to compete for places in both the National and Regional finals. Due to high business start-up demand, Liverpool Hope managed to get 7 original ideas on board.
There was a mix of students who took part, some who were studying for the next year or two and others who are graduating this summer. They were all determined and goal driven students who had taken risks by ‘thinking outside the box’ in today's difficult economic times. The results of the Young Enterprise programme have led to the recent success of one particular start-up business called Little Star Productions. They are undergraduate students who are prime examples of producing success through taking calculated risks.
On May 9th 2012, the Liverpool Young Enterprise Start-Up Programme Final took place at Liverpool Hope. At the peak of revision for final exams and submission deadlines, Little Star Productions were under the height of pressure to pitch their idea to a professional panel, be interviewed and also get judged on their stall whilst proving that their idea was viable for success. The team had experienced immense success in the past 4 months to get to this stage of the competition, competing against the three rival Universities in Merseyside (University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University and Edge Hill University). This was a major success in itself, as the business is only in the early stages, proving that anything is possible if you have the passion and desire to make it work.
Our finalist team, Little Star Productions won the award for their presentation along with having the chance to network with business people and gain an insight into the world of business. It was brilliant to see our entrepreneurial students participate in such a growing event, showing the business world their true potential and gaining an insight to the world of work. The opportunities that they have experienced from this competition are priceless. Will our stars - Little Star Productions be the entrepreneurs of the future?
Look out for The Baggy Blue in the National Finals of the International competition 18th May 2012, and Dolly Dress-Up Box in the next round of BBC start your own business.
