Car Parking at Liverpool Hope

All users of University Car Parks are required to pay for their use. The University has a scaleable charging system for Annual Permits and Pay and Display facilities for occasional users.

The charges were introduced to further:-


  • Reduce the number of people travelling to the university by car

  • Reduce the negative impacts of car travel on the environment

  • Balance the demand and supply for car parking


Additional revenues arising from the Car Parking scheme will be re-invested in the improvements for cyclists and walkers, public transport and other measures to encourage alternatives to the private car. Car Parking for Students and Staff

Staff and Students may use the Pay and Display facilities or purchase an Annual Parking Permit. Application forms for an Annual Parking Permit can be downloaded by clicking on the appropriate link below:-

Alternatively, forms can be collected from the Service Desk in the Gateway to Hope building. 

Charges for Annual Parking Permit 

Staff Grade 6 and below: £50 per annum 

Staff Grade 7 and above: £100 per annum 

Day Students: £25 per annum 

Residential Students: £160 per annum
(Note: The University actively discourages resident students
from bringing cars onto the campus, since this reduces the spaces available for those with genuine reasons to commute to the campus.) 

Blue Badge Holders (Photograph identification to be verified.) Free of charge

 

Payment Methods For Annual Parking Permit

Staff

  • Deductions from Salary of 12 equal monthly payments

Non Residential Student (Day Student)

  • Full payment of £25 to be paid at the Cashiers Office in the Gateway to Hope building and can be made by cash, cheque or credit/debit card, such as Delta, Maestro, Solo, Visa and Visa MasterCard

Residential Student

  • Full payment of £160 can be paid at the Cashiers Office in the Gateway to Hope building and can be made by cash, cheque or credit/debit card.
 Or
  • Initial payment of £32 followed by four monthly payments of £32 which can be paid by Direct Debit, Credit/Debit card or Cheque
It is irrelevant when during the Academic year that an application form is made, the charge is the same as for a full year and no refunds will be made.

Distribution of Car Parking Permits 

Staff

Please complete the application form as soon as possible and deliver it to the Estates Office or the collection box located at the Service Desk in the Gateway to Hope building. The Estates Office will be responsible for processing all Staff Car Parking Permits and will email you when your permit is ready for collection.

Students

Student Car Parking Permits will be available from the 1st September and distributed from the Cashiers Office in the Gateway to Hope building.

Replacement Permits

Lost or damaged permits can be replaced at a cost of £5 and obtained from the Cashiers Office in the Gateway to Hope building.

Please Note

  • Permits do not guarantee a parking space on campus.
  • The University actively discourages parking off campus - please consider the local residents.
  •  It is irrelevant when during the Academic year that an application is made - the charge is the same as for a full year.
  • Cars are parked at owner's risk and the University cannot accept liability for loss or damage.
  • Permits are not transferable and must be clearly displayed.

Changes to Vehicle Registration

Print new registration number on to existing permit and email new vehicle details to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . - there is no need to purchase another parking permit. 

Blue Badge Holders

The University has established designated Blue Badge parking spaces close to the main University buildings. Particular attention will be paid to controlling these spaces for Blue Badge Holders. Vehicles using these spaces must clearly display their registered Blue Badge.

Wheel-clamping

All permits/tickets must be clearly displayed in the windscreen of vehicles.  The University will clamp all vehicles that: -
  • fail to display the eligible permit or parking ticket
  • are parked on yellow lines/pavements/grass and areas marked "emergency services"
  • are parked in Blue Badge parking bays without displaying a Blue Badge parking permit
  • are blocking the entry or exit of fellow car drivers
Any vehicle that is wheel-clamped will be subject to a release fee of £25.

Appeal Procedure

Any person whose vehicle is wheel-clamped has the right to appeal to the Dean of Students (Student Support and Well-being) for students and the University Secretary for staff and others.  Appeals must be made in writing within 14 days of the payment of the release fee, outlining the reasons why the penalty ought not to be imposed. The Dean of Students/Secretary will decide whether or not to grant a personal hearing to the appellant, and may only confirm or set aside the penalty imposed.  Their decision shall be final.
