"Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord my soul! I will praise him as long as I live; I will sing to my God all my life..."

- Psalm 146

HOPE CHAPEL

The chapel is at the heart of the university. It is easily accessed, and is always open. It is your space,so come and use it. It is a great place to come for a moment of quiet prayer or pop along to our community prayers. The Chapels are now used ecumenically with both the Roman Catholic and Anglican sacraments reserved in the tabernacle.

Damaged by a fire some years ago, the chapel has been fully refurbished and is truly a beautiful space. The chapel also hasa smaller side-chapel.

TRINITY CHAPELvisitation

Trinity Chapel is found on the first floor of the Hilda Constance Allen Building and is built in a 20th century interpretation of the traditional "Gothic" style. It is a quiet, serene space, which contains a striking portrayal (by the artist Ghislaine Howard) of Mary's visit to Elizabeth , an image of friendship and tenderness. It now houses the University Senate room.

Trinity Chapel is open for prayer throughout the day when the Senate Room is not in use.

"Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son,And they shall call his name Emmanuel; which is translated, Godwith us."

- St Matthew 1:23

Light your own candle / pray online

Post your prayer online and place your prayer candle on the rack. It will burn for 24 hours and other people will pray for you. It is a really nice way to pray for yourself or for someone you know if they are going through a problem.

WHEN DO WE GATHER TO PRAY?

Every week day in term time a growing community of staff and students gather together for prayer in the side-chapel, located from the main chapel on the Hope Park campus in the Gateway building. You are welcome to join us .

Ecumenical Daily Prayer

- Morning Prayer

Monday to Friday: 8:30am - 8:45am: A great way to start the day, be inspired and refreshed.

- Evening Prayer

Monday to Fridays 4.30pm: At the end of the day stop to reflect, unload whatever you're carrying, and give thanks to God. This time of prayer is held before the Tabernacle, where Christ is present through the consecrated bread of the eucharist.

Please be aware that Evening Prayer is sometimes moved due to other commitments.

'Hope in Christ' - Anglican Worship

- Praise and Worship - 4.30pm

You are welcome to get involved in our Spirit-filled praise and worship service. We have a lively band, and a strong sense of God's presence being poured out upon us.

- Anglican Eucharist - 5.00pm

We then move into a traditional High-Church 'bells and smells' Holy Communion service. It is a very meditative and prayerful service, that makes good use of iconography and Bible-based preaching.

After worship, you're invited to stay for tea and coffee. Most of the group then crosses the road to The Halfway House to have a meal and a pint together. We think that knowing people at church and being part of a community is really important. Why not give us a go?

Musical? You should join our music group.

Catholic Worship

The Catholic community welcomes you to Hope and welcomes you to come along to Mass. The Catholic community is very friendly and open-minded. We are open to growing in our faith together. We are very lucky at Liverpool Hope to have a Redemptrist monastic community and parish across the road from us, which runs many services throughout the day as well as a convent nearby.

- Eucharistic Service: Thursday 1.10pm

The Catholic community celebrates a Eucharistic service every Thursday in the side-chapel at 1.10pm; accessed from inside the main chapel. It is often said that having Eucharist in the week is a great way to increase in our awareness of God's presence in our daily lives. Maybe pop-in and join us.

- Catholic Mass: Sunday  at 6.30pm

The centre of the Christian life is the Eucharist. The Catholic community comes together to share in the Eucharistic meal together. The music at the Mass is well led by our music team who give the worship an intimate and Christ-centred focus.

If you are musical then you should think about joining our music group.

Last Sunday of the month at 6.00pm in Bishop Eton Parish

Liverpool Hope is really blessed to be located across the road from a Redemptrist monastic and parish community. On the last Sunday of every month the student Catholic community join the wider Catholic community in the Mass. It's a great way to remain part of the wider community.

Prayer Pot in the Chaplaincy

A surprisingly high number of people write prayers and put them in our prayer pot, which is located near the front door of the chaplaincy. The chaplaincy team regularly pray these prayers out loud for you to our loving God. If something is really getting you down then it might be a good idea to talk to someone; the chaplains are always here to talk to. We are open-minded and non-judgemental. We also make a great cup of tea and are sometimes known to even be humorous. There is a little room in the chaplaincy, which is a great place to talk to one of the chaplains in a more private setting.

Wanting to start a prayer group?

The chaplaincy team is always happy to help people who are starting new prayer groups. We really believe in student leadership. The chaplaincy is a great space and can be booked by student groups free of charge.

We are interested in starting a weekly packed-lunch Bible study in the vestry off the Hope chapel from September 2010, in which the group will sit around and have a relaxed Bible study over lunch. It would be open to both students and staff in the Liverpool Hope community and would be a great way to connect our faith with our working life or student lifestyle.

We are also keen to foster the traditional devotional life of the university. If you have an interest in participating in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, for example, or in praying the Rosary or the Divine Mercy Chaplet then let us know and we will try to facilitate the creation of a regular prayer community devoted to this style of prayer.

Prayer Space for followers of other faiths

In 2010 a Prayer Room with ablution facilities, suitable for Muslim prayers was opened at Hope Park for the use of staff and students. The room is open to all who wish to use it, but requires a code to open the door, so you can worship privately. Please ask at the Gateway Desk for the code number.
