| Research Interests: |
Ria’s current research develops out of her long-standing interest in disability issues. Her work examines the representation of disability in literature, particularly contemporary and popular fiction. She is working on a monograph on disability in genre fiction, including science fiction, romance, crime, and horror. She co-organised a one-day conference, “Disability and Popular Fiction: Reading Representations”, held at Liverpool John Moores University in June 2009, and will be guest-editing a special issue of the Journal of Literary & Cultural Disability Studies on disability and genre.
