This report is based on the Sea Buckthorn workshop held in 2009 and has
been prepared by the Network and Natural England with inputs from site
managers and workshop participants. The meeting was an opportunity for
practitioners to share views and
experiences on the conservation, management and control of Sea
Buckthorn
scrub in the UK. The report aims to bring together the current

Natural England has recently published the inventory of coastal
vegetated shingle habitats as a follow up from the earlier report Development of a Coastal Vegetated Shingle Inventory for England.
It updates the known extent of shingle habitat using selected habitat
mapping and secondary data interpretation to create a new spatial
dataset. It can be accessed
We were represented at the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management IEEM Autumn conference in Dublin as a shortlisted project in the Tony Bradshaw Best Practice Awards. The Professor Tony Bradshaw Awards are the highest accolade in the environmental sector and there was stiff competition in the shortlist and finals. The Network was commended for fulfilling the principles of IEEM and exemplifying environmental ‘best practice’ in its work. In the end we were runners up but were delighted to be selected as a finalist and win a trophy; as they say from little acorns…!
