Over the last three academic years (2005-8) Liverpool Hope has been constantly investing in the upgrading and development of existing and new spaces, technology and resources at The Cornerstone to support the study of performing and visual arts. This has increased both the quality and the quantity of resources to which students have access and has enriched the student experience.

During 2006-7 a standard AV installation was added to the Hall with activation of two large projection screens for larger lecture theatre/screening options and the installation of a lectern with DVD/video, resident PC, controls for microphone and volume, CD player and amplifier. Installation of curtains at the rear (Writing Centre) and under the arches at the side of the Great Hall have allowed for additional storage and for absorption of sound for better Hall acoustics.

The Writing Studio

During 2006/7 a new student study space was created at the back of the Great Hall, separated from the Hall by a glass screen and equipped with a Smart Board, 12 PCs, a printer and tables and chairs for study. This was developed by Hope’s Centre for Learning and Teaching (CETL) at a cost of over £100K.

IT Facilities
Four IT Suites are available to students, accessible weekdays and weekends. By Sept 2007 the quality of 15 PCs had been upgraded in COR 104 (to allow better graphics capability) and the quantity of PCs on site had increased with the addition of a further 12 PCs on the Great Hall Balcony and the addition of security cameras for security of staff, students and equipment in this space. This development cost £12K. New colour printing and colour copying facilities have been made available in the area off the foyer and in the Writing Studio. Wireless is now being installed for the foyer, refectory and main IT spaces.

New Security Arrangements
Implementation of new signing in system at Reception was introduced in 2006, supported by a) installation of new swipe doors on the entrance, Great Hall and door to the left of the foyer, b) switches at the reception desk to allow visitor entry. This has been supported recently by new arrangements which include upgraded security surveillance equipment and panic buttons.
