Artist: John M.Morrison Exhibition: 'Edgelands'

‘Edgelands’ is an exhibition of work by John M. Morrison, current artist in Residence at Liverpool Hope University’s Fine and Applied Arts Department in collaboration with the AA2A Scheme (Artists Access to Art Colleges).

Morrison's work is an exploration of the structure and mutability of the natural landscape. Motivated by the subjectivity of sensory experience and the ways in which our understanding of the land is mediated through memory, his process of making echoes the impermanence and transience of geological structures. Through printmaking techniques that parallel the erosion and accretion of our natural environment. Morrison finds beauty though erosion, decay and reflecting the entropy of the natural world.

The AA2A project provides placements for visual artists and designer makers in Higher and Further Education institutions across England. In 2011/2012, AA2A schemes will run in 32 institutions, providing 128 placements nationally. In the last 12 years, over 1,200 participants have had the opportunity to undertake a period of research or realise a project, using workshops and supporting facilities in participating fine art and design departments. The Exhibition is open from Friday 13th January to Friday 10th February 2012. Open 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
