The Capstone BuildingThe £6.5m Capstone building is Liverpool Hope’s new Centre for Music, Performance and Innovation. By day it will be home to Creative and Performing Arts students and staff, in a department which is at the forefront of higher education music studies in Liverpool. But by night, it will open its doors to the people of Liverpool who can enjoy shows at Hope Theatre, a space designed specifically to have the best possible acoustic, ideal for classical and contemporary music. Around the theatre, the Capstone has ten music practice rooms, three music studios, three music technology laboratories, teaching rooms, music therapy rooms and an exhibition gallery. The Capstone, funded with the assistance of the NWDA and the Higher Education Funding Council (HEFCE) will also be one of only three Steinway Schools in the UK. All the pianos in the venue, both for performance and rehearsals, will be Steinways – the Rolls Royces of the piano world. Flagship among these will be the new Steinway D Concert Grand piano in Hope Theatre, which will be inaugurated by Joanna MacGregor on Friday 26th March.
