You are invited to the private viewing of Liverpool Hope University's Fine and Applied Arts Degree Show Exhibition at its Creative Campus, Liverpool on Friday 27th May 2011, 5.30- 8pm.

Fine Art is about change, challenge, communication and application.  It is about exploring individual creativity through visual possibilities in an increasingly context-aware, media-saturated and complex world.  Fine Art provides the structure for the pursuit of individual creative experiences and endeavour, intellectual study and the fulfilment of creative potential.  A full programme of two-and three-dimensional study, incorporating a variety of fine art media, is underpinned throughout by critical studies in contemporary and historical art.

Design.  The Bachelor of Design course deals with printed and constructed textiles, studio and industrial ceramics, interior and street furniture, objects for the interior, product design, silversmithing and jewellery.  The programme enables students to develop a visual and discerning understanding of the importance of design within a wide variety of specialist material areas relevant to their individual learning, personal development and future employment.

The Exhibition is open from Saturday 28th May to 4pm Friday 3rd June 2011 and is located in Capstone Building Foyer and the Cornerstone’s Atrium, Studios and Great Hall.

Creativity and Business Event at the Capstone

David ParrishAt 11am on Friday 4th February an audience of 50 small creative businesses and student entrepreneurs gathered at the Capstone Building at Hope's Creative Campus, for a talk by entrepreneurship guru David Parrish.  The event was a collaborative venture between Liverpool Hope University and Merseyside ACME/Liverpool Vision and its focus was to provide key business advice for creative people and open the doors to the range of support that can be offered by Liverpool Hope University and by business advisers working through Merseyside ACME and Liverpool Vision.

David Parrish is the author of the critically acclaimed 'T-Shirts and Suits: A Guide to the Business of Creativity', a book which, in the words of Alexander Schischlik (UNESCO), "demystifies the ins and outs of building a business in the creative industries by providing a practical guide for creative entrepreneurs that uses case studies to illustrate best practice".  David's professional career has been spent breaking down perceived social and cultural barriers between creatives (those in T-Shirts) and business people (Suits) with the message that creative people, e.g. artists, musicians, writers and dramatists, have nothing to fear from adopting the tools of business to develop their careers.

The event involved ample opportunity for networking and included a tour of the Creative Campus' incubation facilities.
