Liverpool Hope University has 8000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. It is the oldest higher education institution in Liverpool dating from 1844. It has two campuses one in Childwall and the other, the Creative Campus, which is in Everton on the old SFX site. The Creative Campus is home to almost 1000 Art, Design, Drama, Dance and Music students and is also home to Creative Companies such as Milapfest (the South Asian arts organisation), the European Opera Centre, Collective Encounters Theatre for Social Change, Kolectiv Theatre Company and The Light Night/Late Night. Many arts and creative organisations are based at the Creative Campus including the RLPO 10:10 Ensemble and Youth Choir, Liverpool Guitar Society, Liverpool Harmonic Gospel Choir, Streetdance UK and Liverpool History Society.
Also at the Creative Campus there are Business Incubation Units which offer creative industry set up opportunities for Hope graduates and local artists and entrepreneurs wishing to establish creative industries. The Creative Campus offers access to academic and practitioner expertise, specialist studio space and equipment and also performance and exhibition space including the 300 seater Capstone Theatre and the Cornerstone Gallery. Many students become involved in community arts and eventually establish their own companies in, for example, Drama for Dementia Carers and Music Therapy. The Creative Campus works closely with the Hope University Education and Enterprise Centre and the Hope Business Gateway at Hope Park Campus as well as with the Hope Business Faculty which has a major interest in entrepreneuship particularly with the Third Sector. The recent appointment of Stephen Broomhead, former Chief Executive of the North West Development Agency, as Professor of Entrepreneuship will ensure an ongoing and successfil commitment to the Creative Industries. Now there is renewed hope, the Hope Theatre in the Capstone building on Shaw Street. Spacey but intimate, warm and yet cool.' - Roger McGough

'Liverpool Hope is fast making a name for itself as hotbed of talent and activity. Their splendid facility at Everton is a gift to chamber music ensembles, particularly those specialising in contemporary music’. I had a lovely couple of hours at Cornerstone yesterday - I walked into a drama happening in the entrance lobby; listened to a flautist practise a piece, spoke to the artist in residence who talked me through her work and role; and chatted to a couple of students. I also saw how much is going on - just a glance at notice boards gives an indication of that. The lady on reception was wonderful - welcoming and helpful and completely unfazed by the drama unfolding around her and the buzz is brilliant! ' ‘the best of more than a dozen city-based festivals'. (The Cornerstone Festival) ‘an increasingly significant (and desirable) gallery space'. Joe Riley Liverpool Echo on events at the Creative Campus

‘the gloriously redeveloped and refurbished campus at Everton’. Glyn Mon-Hughes Liverpool Daily Post “This new centre will fully complete the campus, and I am pleased TMP
was able to help the team at Hope to secure the funding to make this
project happen.
“We hope this will lead to the creation of new jobs and assist with
business startups, as well as encouraging wider participation in the
arts.”
