Faculty Board

Terms of Reference 2013/14

Faculty Board is a formal part of the University's decision making processes and derives authority from Senate. Faculty Board is chaired by the Dean of Education Revd. Professor Kenneth Newport and represents the interests of all parts of the Faculty.

The Faculty Board meets at least twice a term and the agenda and minutes are circulated within the Faculty with the minutes being submitted to the Secretary’s Office within two weeks of the meeting for matters to be taken forward to the appropriate University committee.

Faculty Board minutes will be received by Senate, with particular issues being submitted to the appropriate Committees of Senate. 

The Faculty Board will also formally receive and consider minutes of the Faculty’s sub-committees and feedback from University Committees. Faculty Sub Committees include: Faculty Quality Learning and Teaching Sub-Committee (FQLTS), Research Sub-Committee, Teacher Education Sub-Committee, SEN and Disability Steering Group, Childhood Studies Steering Group, Education Studies Steering Group.

In addition to the Faculty Board there will be at least twice a year a 'Faculty Forum' at which all members of staff within the Faculty are present. There will be a report of this Forum published on the Faculty’s website.

FQLTS Sub-Committee

The Faculty Quality Learning and Teaching Sub-Committee (FQLTS) advises the Faculty Board on all matters relating to quality assurance, quality enhancement and academic development. This includes receiving all proposals for new and amended courses, external examiners' reports and nominations, and ensuring the University's quality assurance processes are followed.
