School PartnershipsThe Education Faculty works in close partnership with over 600 primary and secondary schools throughout Greater Merseyside as well as parts of Lancashire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester. The quality of education for Qualified Teaching Status is dependent upon the valuable work carried out in schools. Therefore schools are involved in all stages of the management and delivery of the courses; awards management, steering groups, working parties, interviewing, lecturing, assessment, quality assurance of mentoring. In 2007-8 the PGCE Secondary course, PGCE Primary Course and BA (QTS) courses were inspected. The PGCE Secondary course received Grade 1 - the highest of 4 grades - for the management and quality of partnership, with our Primary provision receiving Grade 2. The OFSTED report describes the courses as very good with some outstanding features. These excellent results stem from the close collaboration with schools and the hard work and dedication of the school-based tutors/mentors. The work of the school-based tutors/mentors remains central to the quality of the courses and the NQTs graduating from Hope. Community PartnershipsThe Education Faculty also works in close partnership with a wide range of organisations and educational settings in the voluntary and statutory sectors, throughout Greater Merseyside as well as parts of Lancashire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester. These partnerships have developed out of, and provide opportunities for, students studying degree subjects in the Deanery to undertake work placements. This enables them to make important links between academic theory studied as part of their course and professional practice. Community partnerships represent the diverse range of educational provision and education issues studied by our students. They include links with the following:
International PartnershipsThe Education Faculty has partnership with a number of institutions and organisations in other countries, particularly those who share Hope’s mission and commitment to providing high quality education in the round. Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Liverpool Hope University and St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, the Education Deanery is seeking to establish a joint research institute with this prestigious Indian college of higher education. The Education Faculty has been working closely with a number of educational organisations in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates, including Nord Anglia, SABIS and GEMS. Through these partnerships we hope to support the continuing professional development of teachers in both International and Indian schools in the Middle East to ensure high quality of educational provision. |
