Dr Chrysostom L. Frank (Regis University): A New Reformation (Together This Time!): Lutheran and Byzantine Christians for Ecological Justice
Father Chrysostom (Gary) Frank is a married Russian Greek Catholic priest with faculties in the Roman-Rite. He has taught at the university and seminary levels in South Africa, Ukraine, and the United States. At the University of South Africa, he served for a period as Head of the Department of Church History. He is currently researching the relationship between theology, ecumenism and climate change. Father Chrysostom is a member of the Department of Religious Studies and part of the University Ministry team at Regis University, Denver. He also serves SS. Cyril and Methodius Russian Greek Catholic Community at Regis University.
In his lecture, Fr Chrysostom, would like to do two things: First, recall a prior Lutheran-Byzantine attempt at reconciliation, and secondly, identify from an Eastern Christian perspective a number of important Lutheran theological accents, which may be able contribute to a contemporary Eco-Reformation, what could be called Lutheran theological gifts to the universal Church.
To mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, a new series of lectures commemorating the historic event, will be held at Liverpool Hope.
All are welcome to the free lectures, which will be held at 5.30pm in EDEN 109.
