Starts: Tuesday, 13 February 2018
Speaker: Dr Richard Gunton CECAN
The Faith-in-Scholarship Working Group on Ecosystem Services is a small multi-disciplinary group founded in 2015 with the aim of using reformational philosophy to affirm, critique and enrich the ecosystem services concept - a concept that has shot to prominence in nature conservation and sustainable development policy as well as academic research. The fruit of the group's first phase is an "ecosystem valuing framework", an approach that considers the ways in which stakeholders of all kinds appreciate natural places and ecosystems beyond the category of "services". I will outline the advantages of this framework and explain how it is now being developed into a tool for policy-making in association with the Centre for the Evaluation of Complexity Across the Nexus.
