Faculties at Liverpool Hope University

Subjects at Liverpool Hope are grouped into Faculties. There are four Faculties and each of the Deans is a member of the Rectorate Team (Hope's Senior Management Team).

The Faculty of Arts & Humanities is led by Dr Terry Phillips. The Faculty includes creative and performing arts - Music, Fine Art, Design, Drama, Theatre Studies, and Dance mainly based at Hope's Cornerstone campus - as well as English, Film, History, Media, Politics, Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Theology and Religious Studies, English, and Music are all areas in which internationally excellent research is conducted, some of which, in Theology and Religious Studies is world leading. There is internationally significant research expertise in Drama and Dance and Politics and growing research expertise in History and Fine and Applied Arts.

The Faculty of Education, headed by Professor Bart McGettrick, includes all Initial Teacher Training programmes (BA QTS and PGCE), Disability Studies, Education Studies, Early Childhood Studies and Childhood and Youth Studies as well as a range of Foundation Degrees, Masters and CPD courses. There is a growing research culture within the Faculty.

The Faculty of Business and Computing Sciences whose Dean is Dr John Brinkman, contains the Liverpool Hope Business School and a variety of IT programmes. Masters programmes in Business Management and Computing are very popular, particularly with international students, as is the MBA.

The Faculty of Sciences & Social Sciences 

The Faculty of Sciences and Social Sciences is led by Dr Penny Haughan. The Faculty strives to be excellent in both research and learning and teaching whilst providing exceptional levels of student support. There is a broad and varied research culture within the Faculty, with research groups in, amongst others, Health and Wellbeing, Landscapes, Social Work and various aspects of Psychology.

The Faculty of Sciences and Social Sciences is composed of four Departments which each represent a range of disciplines;  

  1. Department of  Geography (includes programmes in Environmental Management, Tourism and Leisure)
  1. Department of  Health and Applied Social Sciences (includes programmes in Biology and Nutrition)
  1. Department of  Psychology
  2. Department of  Social Work Care and Justice (includes programmes in Criminology)

The Faculty also has a highly successful Sport Studies provision which is delivered by experts from across all Departments. At postgraduate level the Faculty has Masters awards in Environmental Management, Criminal Justice, Research Methods, Health Exercise and Nutrition. It also offers PhD study in a range of disciplines.
