New international staff

Welcome to Liverpool Hope University and congratulations on your new appointment. We would like to take the time to welcome you into the University and also welcome you to your new city of Liverpool.

Whether you are a visiting lecturer or a permanent member of staff, we are sure that Liverpool Hope University and the surrounding city will touch your heart and give you memories that you won't forget.

To support your transition not only to a new job, but also a new country, there is a wide range of facilities and opportunities for you here. There is a wide variety of events and courses held over the duration of the year to help you with your professional development.

There is a mandatory induction that all staff must attend. This will help you get acquainted with Liverpool Hope University and your department, also it will make you aware of essential policies and procedures, as well as helping you familiarise yourself with your surroundings.

At Liverpool Hope University we understand that moving can be stressful at the best of times, let alone to a new country. Liverpool has vast wealth of culture and landmarks that are World renowned and spectacular to see. Visit our city of Liverpool pages to find out more.

There is also a Staff Families Association, which is a social group within Liverpool Hope University, it provides a friendly welcome and support to the families of newly appointed staff. Staff Families meets every month for a coffee morning, either at the university, or in the homes of its members. We would like to extend a warm invitation to you to meet other staff families who have also come to the city, from elsewhere in the country, or abroad.

Liverpool City Council - This is an extremely useful webpage as it provides information on public services, catchment areas, information on tax and any other important information regarding the Liverpool City Council.

Home Office - This will help you with information on policing and crime in your area, also UK Border Agency for visa's and entry clearance.

Government Website - This provides information on country wide public services, tax and citizenship forms.

DVLA - For information on driving laws and requirements within the UK.

NHS - This will give you information on the public health services, it also includes 24 hour medical information all year round.

Bank accounts for non-residents in the UK - There is numerous banks that allow you to open a bank account for use in the UK before you arrive. This is particularly helpful for those needing a bank account to rent or buy a home in the UK.

British Council - Useful to find English language schools within the UK for spouses or dependents wanting to learn or improve on their English speaking skills.

Education UK - Another very useful English Language school.
