Liverpool Hope University has introduced nine fully funded music scholarship opportunities,
which together are worth more than £40,000.
The nine scholarships will be:
• Four vocal scholarship for soprano, alto (male or female), tenor and bass
• Four string scholarships for two violins, viola and cello
• One joint organ scholarship (together with Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral)
The scholarships are for high level tuition, free accommodation and exposure to excellent
performance opportunities. For the string scholarships, students will be tutored members
of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Male vocal scholars will have opportunities
to perform with the Metropolitan Cathedral choir. Meanwhile the organ scholarship offers a student the chance to be tutored by the Organist and Director of Music at the Metropolitan Cathedral.
The scholarship holders will also participate actively in the musical life of Liverpool Hope
through our various choirs and orchestras which regularly perform at official University
events and in the community.
Professor Tassilo Erhardt, Head of Music at Liverpool Hope, said: “This is a fantastic
opportunity for nine very talented musicians to be given access to some of the best tuition
available. In addition to this, our students will have wonderful opportunities to perform at the
impressive Metropolitan Cathedral as well as to play a crucial role in our packed calendar of
performances at the University.”
Successful students would begin their studies at Liverpool Hope from 2013.
