Living in Halls

As you read this you may still be in school or college, or have recently left and the thought of going to University will be both exciting and daunting. You will be taking on a new academic challenge and probably living away from home for the first time - a huge step for anyone. Remember everyone coming to University feels exactly the same and our aim is to ensure that you have the best possible experience, both in and out of class.

Living in halls will give you the best start to your new life and provides you with a secure and fun place to live while you progress with your studies.

First year undergraduates can choose to live at either Hope Park, Creative Campus or Aigburth Park.

Where will I live?

Hope Park

Hope Park is the main teaching campus and the hub of the academic, administrative and conference activity of the University. The 575 rooms are reserved for first year undergraduates and include both en-suite and shared facilities rooms.  All rooms are single occupation and include internet access.

En-suite Self-catering Rooms - Wesley, Newman and Teresa Halls (330 rooms available)

The en-suite halls at Hope Park provide you with both privacy and comfort. All rooms contain a single bed, double wardrobe, study area, chair, drawers and shelves, plus an en-suite shower room and toilet. The rooms are arranged into flats of five, all sharing a large kitchen and dining area, which is equipped with a fridge-freezer, cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, iron, ironing board and vacuum cleaner. The common room on the ground floor can be used for meetings, social events or just relaxing.

Accessible rooms are available in these halls.

Standard Rooms - St Agnes, St Margaret’s, St Elphin and St Etheldreda Halls, Angela and Austin Halls (208 rooms available in total)

We have six traditional halls of residence with shared bathrooms, providing an informal and friendly environment for students who enjoy socialising and making friends.

St Agnes, St Margaret’s, St Elphin and St Etheldreda Halls are located in the historic Grade II listed Hilda Constance Allen Building, built in 1930, and which features the picturesque Hope clock tower. The rooms have period features including recently refurbished leaded windows and window seats. Many look out onto the greenery of the Rector's Lawn with it's landscaped borders.

St Agnes & St Margarets will undergo a refurbishment programme this summer and will consist of two cluster flats per hall.  Each cluster flat will house 11 single bedrooms that will share 3 bathrooms, a large lounge/dining area and a kitchen which is equipped with a kettle, toaster, microwave, oven and fridge freezer.

NB: The refurbishment of these halls will take place over Summer 2017 and we endeavour to have them completed for September 2017 arrivals however if there are any delays in the work we would house any students allocated in these rooms on one of our other campuses until the refurbishment is completed

St Elphin & St Etheldreda each house 28 students on a corridor in a dormitory style. Each hall has 5/6 bathrooms and 4 kitchens which are equipped with a kettle, toaster, microwave, small oven and freezer. On the corridor there is a common room which can be used  for meetings, social events or just relaxing.
