Living in Halls

We offer rooms in St Michael's and St Julie's Halls in the Aigburth Park Student Village for PGCE, Schools Direct, Masters & Postgraduate students.

You will live in a flat with other PGCE/postgraduate students.

The Student Village accommodates PGCE and Postgraduate students along with returning and 1st year undergraduate students.

Living at Aigburth Park also means you are conveniently close to all of the shops and restaurants in the local area, plus you will be only 15 minutes from the city centre by bus or 10 minutes on the train, which you can catch from a station located two minutes' walk away from your hall.

 

Where will I live?

Aigburth Park Student Village is located in a residential area approximately three miles from the Hope Park campus, it is home to St Julie’s and St Michael’s Halls.

 

St Julie's Hall

Spread over several buildings and close to a range of communal facilities, such as a laundrette and communal lounge, St Julie's offers flats of 7/8 rooms.

Each flat shares two showers and toilets, plus a lounge and a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, with fridge-freezer, cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, iron, ironing board, vacuum cleaner, dining table and chairs.

You will also benefit from free internet access and guest rooms will be available for visitors for a nominal fee.

 

St Michael's Hall

Four blocks of purpose built accommodation close to a range of communal facilities, such as a laundrette and communal lounge.  Each room has a single bed, wardrobe, study area, chair, drawers and shelves, plus an ensuite shower room and toilet.  The rooms are arranged in flats of five or six, with each flat sharing a large kitchen and dining area, which is equipped with a fridge-freezer, cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, iron, ironing board, vacuum cleaner, dining table and chairs.

You will also benefit from free internet access and guest rooms will be available for visitors for a nominal fee.

 

Costs & Contract

Deposits

A deposit of £200 is payable when you accept the accommodation contract. This is refundable at the end of the contract, less any charges for damage, lost keys or cleaning.  The deposit is not refundable if the contract is terminated early (strict termination criteria applies).

Contract Lengths

Contract lengths are 36 weeks for postgraduate/masters and 44 weeks for PGCE & Schools Direct students however we do offer summer contracts (subject to availability and room change) if required.

Costs

The accommodation charge for halls at the Aigburth Park Student Village, includes rent, heating, lighting and water costs as well as internet access, and access to a range of communal facilities on the campus.

Prices shown are for the academic year 2017/18.

Paying for Halls

There are a range of flexible payment options available, including paying in full or by instalments, or if you are a PGCE student, by having deductions made from your Training Bursary.  Further information is available from:

Students who choose to pay by instalments have the option to make an initial payment (approx. 15% of the total accommodation charge) or to split the full charge into the following payment plans, which can be set up online - further details about this will be sent to you before your contract starts:

  • Payment Plan Option 3 - three payments in October, January and April/May
     
  • Payment Plan Option 5 - five monthly payments in October, November, December, January and February

You can pay the instalments by Direct Debit, credit/debit card or post-dated cheques.
