The Institute for Applied Social Sciences was established in 2007 as an international research and practice development institute. It is a partnership between Liverpool Hope University in the UK and Bishop Heber College in Tamil Nadu, India. The focus of the Institute's work is mainly, but not exclusively, social work, social care and health. Dr A. Relton from Bishop Heber College coordinates the Institute's activities in India and works closely with Dr Penny Haughan, Dean of Sciences and Social Sciences at Hope.
