Nutifafa and Md Ataur, Special Scholarship Holders, MSc Environmental Management
Scholarship to environmental success
Liverpool Hope University's Ecology and Environmental Management (MSc) is a popular programme with both UK and international students. The programme grows stronger and stronger every year and this is reflected by the high quality applicants whom are selected. This year, the Ecology and Environmental Management (MSc) welcomed Liverpool Hope University's first Commonwealth Shared Scholarship award holder, and first Bangladeshi Government award holder.
Liverpool Hope University welcomes Nutifafa Geh and Md Ataur Rahman Khan.
Nutifafa Geh, Commonwealth Shared Scholarship
Nutifafa comes from Ghana and is studying the Ecology and Environmental Management (MSc) at Liverpool Hope University and his first degree was in Building Technology from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology.
He is a recipient of the prestigious Commonwealth Shared Scholarships, a joint initiative between the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (with funding from Department for International Development), and UK universities, to support scholarships for students from developing Commonwealth countries who would not otherwise be able to study in the United Kingdom.
Nutifafa says: “This is a life-changing educational experience for me. The mission of the University is to provide a well rounded educational experience and I look forward to that.
“I want to give thanks to the University and the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission for giving me the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship. If they hadn’t given it to me, I would never have been able to come here.”
Md Ataur Rahman Khan
Md Ataur Rahman Khan is studying for the MSc in Environmental Management at Hope and comes from Bangladesh, where he works for the civil service.
Ataur says: “As part of capacity building the government of Bangladesh has been funding scholarships in specific fields and the environment is one of these fields. I’m building my professional career in environmental management and was awarded a scholarship.
“I met Liverpool Hope University's representative Nancy Cooke in Bangladesh and decided to do the MSc in Environmental Management.
“I’m living on Aigburth Park campus. It’s excellent here – the admin, the management, the contact time – it’s all great!
“I’m very grateful to my government and hopefully I will gain very good research skills in environmental management and this will be helpful for a developing country like Bangladesh who is striving hard to attain sustainable development.”
See Ataur's special Youtube Video for more about his experience at Liverpool Hope University.
