Liverpool Hope University is a vibrant community with high scholarly standards.  We are proud of our past, confident in our present and ambitious for our future. Research is central to our curriculum development and enhancement and all academic staff at the University engage in research. Building upon our REF 2014 submission we are looking with ambition and confidence to the next REF, strengthening even further our research degree programme (PhD and EdD). This developing research expertise builds upon and complements our already well established reputation for excellence in teaching and learning. Our policy is to combine these elements of our work in keeping with the University’s stated academic profile as a research-informed, teaching University of distinction. It is in this context that we now seek scholars in a number of areas who will join with us in pursuit of excellence; these opportunities include the post of:

Senior Lecturer/Senior Professional Tutor in Graphic Design

We are looking to appoint a Senior Lecturer/Senior Professional Tutor in Graphic Design who will undertake the leadership of this exciting new BA programme (launching in 2018).   The post holder will be responsible for programme leadership, teaching and management, assimilation of existing curriculum and the generation of new course content on the undergraduate degree programme in graphic design.

The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly and closely with colleagues across the department who are responsible for a host of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to achieve the desired balance of practice and theory.

He/she will join a dedicated departmental team who work closely together. The department is fully committed to excellence in teaching, to enhancing the student experience, and increasingly to delivering research/professional experience.  The ability to attract and to seek external links/funding for projects is desirable.  Proficiency in the relevant current design software and expertise and experience in typography and visual culture/communication is required. A working knowledge or awareness of UX/UI and app technology and its applications is desirable.

The University is committed to working with industry and cultural and creative organisations to design and develop curriculum that is relevant and related to the missions of these organisations and the development of the city. Currently the University has formal partnerships with National Museums Liverpool, Liverpool Tate and FACT, as well as established links with the Bluecoat and the Arts and Craft Council amongst others. The University wishes to build on existing links with international partners, providing exchange opportunities for study abroad students as well as hosting international renowned artists and scholars.

The post is permanent, subject to the normal probationary period of twelve months.

Please note that a PhD is required for the Senior Lecturer post.

Please state clearly on your application which post (i.e. Senior Lecturer or Senior Professional Tutor) you are applying for.

We recruit staff nationally and internationally as we seek out the best to help build Hope for the future. If you join us you will be doing so at an exciting and challenging time as we work to build a liberal arts inspired university of distinction in the UK.
