Quality Teaching
Liverpool Hope is a University which is proud to describe itself as a ‘top quality teaching-led, research informed mission-focused liberal arts inspired University’. To support the learning and teaching work throughout the University, the Centre for Learning and Teaching is led by the Dean of Learning and Teaching who works alongside the four academic Deans. Staff in the Centre include a principal lecturer in learning and teaching, an e-developer, an e- technologist, a part-time learning and teaching development officer and an administrator. Their work is further supported by a growing number of Deanery-based principal lecturers who act as a conduit between the Deaneries and the work of the Centre.
The Centre for Learning and Teaching has a strong focus on continuing professional development and teaching enhancement, underpinned by pedagogical research. It leads an active and thriving cross-institutional pedagogical action research group (PAR), organises a biennial international Pedagogical Research in Higher Education conference (PRHE) and publishes an in-house journal aimed specifically at disseminating learning and teaching initiatives called PRIME (Pedagogical Research In Maximising Education).
The Centre comes under the aegis of the Dean of Education.
In the Centre for Learning and Teaching, we aim to share good practice, a commitment and a passion for quality teaching which gives our students the best possible learning experience. This aligns with key goal 3 in the University Corporate Plan which states that ‘The University will continue to ensure that students are taught by scholars who have a commitment to teaching excellence’.
We believe in evidence-based change and improvement and are keen to work with colleagues in the way that best suits their discipline and their students’ needs.
