In 2008 Liverpool had a successful year as European Capital of Culture and Hope played a major role in the events programme, hosting events and getting involved in city-wide art exhibitions. Visitors to Liverpool are constantly amazed by thethe amound of things there is to do. Liverpool has some of the best theatres, concert halls, museums and galleries in Europe. Alongside this are the countless bars, shops and restaurants, which the birthplace of The Beatles has to offer. Sports fans will enjoy the friendly rivalry between Liverpool FC and Everton FC, the two championship teams of Liverpool, who make Liverpool on of the most successful footballing cities in Europe. Other sporting attractions include the world-famous Grand National which attracts thousands to Aintree Racecourse, the thrills of Rugby League and the golfing excitement of The Open Championship.
Being a student at Liverpool Hope offers you the chance to get involved the cultural aspects of the city. The University works closely with The Playhouse and Everyman theatres, The Tate and Bluecoat art galleries, The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society, FACT, European Opera Centre and numerous smaller galleries and theatre companies - many of which are run by our former students. Other attractions of the city for students include the new Liverpool ONE shopping centre, boasting 160 shops and a 14 screen ODEON cinema. The buzzing Concert Square is the place to be in the evenings, with bars, pubs and clubs to suit every taste.

The historic waterfront has been a focal point of the city for over eight hundred years, so it seems appropriate that the Pier Head – including the world famous Liver Buildings – is a UNESCO-recognised World Heritage Site.This puts the Liverpool waterfront on an architecural par with Historical Cairo and Notre-Dame.
