Print E-mail

Postgraduate students at Hope enjoy unique opportunities for creative and intellectual development in a city steeped in music-making and the contemporary arts.  From the Mersey Beat and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, to the European Opera Centre and the two cathedral choirs, Liverpool’s musical traditions provide focus and inspiration for advanced training in performance, composition and musicology drawing on a wide range of staff specialisms.  Currently we offer four pathways at master’s level:

MA The Beatles, Popular Music and Society
            MA Creative Practice
            MA Music in Cultural History
            MA Music Since 1900

STOP PRESS: The Music Department is able to award one bursary (£1000) and one AHRC studentship (full fees and maintenance) to students applying for the MA The Beatles, Popular Music and Society and the MA Music Since 1900 and wishing to start in September 2011.  These awards will be made in a separate application process.  Click here for more information.

Our Beatles MA has received international media attention since it first ran in 2009, including a recent feature on Euromaxx (click here)
