Undergraduate Performance Scholarships

Each year, Liverpool Hope University’s Department of Music offers a number of valuable music scholarships to incoming music students by competitive audition. Scholarships available include the coveted Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestral Instrument Scholarships and Liverpool Hope Choral Scholarships, as well as the key position of Liverpool Hope University Organ Scholar. In each case scholarship holders receive up to 20 hours of individual tuition (worth in the region of £700) per year with the scholarships normally being held for the full length of the holder’s studies in Music at Hope (subject to satisfactory progress). Auditions for scholarships are held at the beginning of the academic year and are awarded on the basis of musical and technical potential. Scholarship holders are expected to play full and prominent roles in all aspects of the Department and University’s wide range of music-making activities.  Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestral Instrument Scholarship holders are taught by leading members of the RLPO. Choral Scholars normally receive their individual vocal tuition from Liverpool Hope’s Head of Vocal Studies, Vanessa Williamson, and the Organ Scholar studies with Timothy Noon, Organist and Choir Master of Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. First-year students will be invited to audition for performance scholarships during the first couple of weeks of the new academic year.
