Dr Katz delivered the first Keynote speech of her career in Plymouth. Opening the conference, ‘Domestic Abuse through the Eyes of Young People’, Dr Katz’s 50 minute speech focused on children’s and mothers’ experiences of coercive control.

With an audience of 250 practitioners, the event provided an excellent opportunity to evidence the positive contributions of Dr Katz’s research. Dr Katz gathered written evidence of the impact of her research from conference delegates including clergy, early years practitioners, probation services, children’s social care, charity workers, and head teachers. Many of these reported that Dr Katz’s research will inform training and service development within their organisations.

Dr Emma Katz is Lecturer in Childhood and Youth. She is a founder member of the SEARCH research centre at Hope, and serves on Hope’s REF Steering Group as REF Unit Coordinator for Social Work and Social Policy.
