EU Special Envoy Eamon Gilmore to give peacebuilding lecture

The challenges of peacebuilding will be discussed in a special guest lecture by Eamon Gilmore, the EU Special Envoy for the Peace Process in Colombia.

Drawing on his experience, Mr Gilmore will talk about the challenges of peacemaking and peacebuilding in Ireland and Colombia.

The free public event is organised by the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Centre for War and Peace Studies as part of its Civic Lecture series and will take place on Monday 24th April.

As well as his role as Special Envoy, Mr Gilmore is Adjunct Professor in the School of Law and Government at Dublin City University, and George Soros Visiting Practitioner Chair at the Central European University.

Previously, Mr Gilmore served as Deputy Prime Minister (Tanaiste) and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland (2011-2014), Member of the Irish Parliament (Dáil Éireann) (1989-2016) and Leader of the Irish Labour Party (2007-2014).

The event is open to the public and will take place at 4pm on Monday 24th April in the Senate Room, Hope Park, Liverpool, L16 9JD.
