Twenty years after studying at Hope, former international student Abdulrahman Sallam has become an ambassador for the University in the Middle East.

Abdulrahman joined Hope in 1997 and spent a year studying through the Centre for English Language.

He said: “I was keen to study in Liverpool as I’m a big fan of Liverpool Football Club. I looked at all three universities in the city and chose Hope as I fell in love with the beautiful buildings, views and campus.”

After completing his studies, he stayed on at the University working as a volunteer in the Library and with security. He went on to study an MSc in Business Management in 1999, before working as an International Support Coordinator at Hope.

He later completed an MBA in International Business at the University and worked as a Senior Resident Coordinator, looking after the Senior Resident Tutors who work in Hope’s halls of residence.

In 2012, Abdulrahman returned to Saudi Arabia, where he now works as an Executive Manager for FMC Construction. During a recent visit to the University he was invited to be a Middle Eastern ambassador, helping to forge links between Hope and education influencers in the region.
