IMA Fellowship awarded to Professor Nagar

HCA building under blue sky

Professor Atulya Nagar, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) and Dean of Science, has been made a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA).

Fellowship is given to those with a senior professional standing based on demonstratable achievement and competence in developing, or the application of, mathematics and research in the field.

The Fellows are required to have a minimum of seven years’ experience and must hold a senior managerial/leadership position involving the use of, or training in, mathematics.

The Mathematics provision in the School of Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering is accredited by IMA and on successful completion of our degree in Mathematics, our students gain professional recognition, which in term helps them to progress in their careers.

Our courses were accredited in 2019 and this IMA accreditation means that students on the MMath programme are now able to apply immediately for Chartered Mathematician (CMath) status on completion of their degree, whilst those graduating from the BSc in Mathematics can apply for CMath status after further relevant training and experience.
