Liverpool International Jazz Festival celebrates contemporary sounds

Liverpool International Jazz Festival returns for the sixth year, with a host of performances, masterclasses and workshops from contemporary artists.

Supported by sponsors and collaborators that include LiverpoolJazz, Milapfest, The Anti-Social Jazz Club, Curly Music, Trevor James and Jazz North, the festival will run from Thursday 22nd – Sunday 25th February.

The focus will be on contemporary instrumental jazz in a variety of styles, taking audience members through numerous genres, including Funk/Acid Jazz, IndoJazz and Jazz Rock.

This year’s performances include; James Taylor Quartet (+ Skeltr), Get the Blessing (+ The Weave), Arun Ghosh IndoJazz Sextet, Dock in Absolute (+Andchuck), Jason Rebello – Solo Piano, and Soft Machine.

Several free workshops will also take place throughout the festival, including a saxophone workshop with Theo Travis and a post-show masterclass with Arun Ghosh.

The festival was established in 2013 by Liverpool Hope University and previously featured performances by artists such as Courtney Pine, Denys Baptiste, Roller Trio, Impossible Gentlemen, Kit Downes, Led Bib, and Andy Sheppard.
