Postgraduate students in the Department of Media and Communication visited the May The Toys Be With You exhibition currently running at The Atkinson museum and gallery in Southport.
Comprising a vast collection of merchandise from the original Star Wars film series, the exhibition offered students an opportunity to develop their investigations into the commerce of Hollywood cinema, as part of the Film, Media and Society MA.
Following a tour around the exhibition, students attended a talk by screen studies and performance lecturer Derek McLean. McLean, who has many years of experience in the film and television industry, spoke about the screenplay for Star Wars (1977), highlighting some of the key aspects that have contributed to the film’s enduring popularity.
