Sonja Tiernan, Head of History and Politics and Associate Professor of Modern History, has published a new volume on the work of the Irish socialist, suffragist and trade unionist Eva Gore-Booth.

Sonja Tiernan, Head of History and Politics and Associate Professor of Modern History, has published a new volume on the work of the Irish socialist, suffragist and trade unionist Eva Gore-Booth.

The volume, Eva Gore-Booth: Collected Poems, is published by Arlen House Press and Syracuse University Press. The volume is the first full collection of politically charged poetry by Gore-Booth. The large volume is over 400 pages and includes a 25,000-word introduction by Associate Professor Tiernan as well as a foreword by the President of Ireland Michael D Higgins.

The book will be launched in Dublin on Friday 11th May as part of Interrogating Markievicz Conference in Richmond Barracks. A conference marking the centenary of the election of the first female MP and sister of Gore-Booth, Countess Markievicz. 

The book will later be launched by the Ambassador to Ireland at the Irish World Heritage Centre on Saturday 9th June as part of the Manchester Histories Festival.
