A number of new publications by Liverpool Hope academics will soon be available in bookshops across the country.

Peace at Last – A Portrait of Armistice Day, 11 November 1918 by Associate Professor Guy Cuthbertson, Head of the English Department, will be published by Yale University Press in October.

The hour-by-hour account of Armistice Day 1918 brings together news reports, memoirs, letters and literature to portray scenes from that monumental day 100 years ago.

Focusing solely on the day itself, and how Britain and the wider world reacted to news of the peace agreement, the book is the first of its kind.

Elsewhere, a new publication edited by Lecturer in Islam Reverend Dr Yazid Said and Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen’s Professor Lejla Demiri has been released by Cambridge University Press.

The Future of Interfaith Dialogue, Muslim-Christian Encounters through a Common Word, explores the 2007 open letter A Common Word Between Us and You. The volume aims to advance debate and dialogue between Jews, Muslims and Christians, and promote methodology for inter-religious studies.

Finally, Senior Lecturer in Theology Dr Andrew Cheatle has produced a critical edition of W.E. Sangster’s sermons in a publication that explores the thoughts of one of the greatest preachers of the 20th Century.

W.E. Sangster, Sermons in America, includes transcriptions of 10 previously unpublished sermons on holy living, which were preached by Sangster at the 1956 World Methodist Conference in North Carolina.
