The School of Health Sciences welcomed professional Norwegian football team Fredrikstad FK to campus for a Sports Science taster session.

Players underwent a series of demonstrations in the state-of-the-art physiology and biomechanics laboratories at the university. This was followed by a practical strength and conditioning session in which the players were put through their paces, with a series of strength and power-based exercises.

Senior Lecturer in Coaching Science Dr James Malone, Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science Dr Pete Angell, and Lecturer in Sport and Health Science Dr Matthew Jackson led the workshops.

Dr Malone said: “This was an excellent session that provided the players with useful exposure to the world of Sports Science and how it can be applied to help enhance their own performance.

“The taster session was part of an ongoing relationship with Little League Sports and UKSE, who provide UK-based tours for teams predominantly from Scandinavia. Working in co-operation with these companies provides a great opportunity to showcase our excellent facilities here at Hope and create stronger links with industry.”
