Team GB Paralympian visits Liverpool Hope

Team GB Paralympian Jamie Burdekin, who holds an Olympic bronze medal, visited Liverpool Hope’s Health Science Building.

Associate Professor Omid Alizadehkhaiyat gave Jamie a tour or the Health Science facilities including the biomechanics lab.

Professor Alizadehkhaiyat also gave Jamie an insight into the Tennis research taking place at Liverpool Hope, and his specialism in Upper Limb Research.   

Jamie said after the visit: “I haven't stopped talking about the facilities. You guys are doing some brilliant work there.”

Jamie is an ambassador for the 2017 Liverpool Hope University International Tennis Tournament, which runs from 15th-18th June.   

He made his debut for Great Britain at the World Team Cup in New Zealand in 2004. He made his Paralympic Games debut in Beijing, where he went on to partner Peter Norfolk to win the quad doubles bronze medal. He has also been in Team GB for the London and Rio games.

Jamie was also a member of Great Britain’s World Team Cup team, who won the quad title in 2009 and 2014, and won silver and bronze medals whilst representing Great Britain in the event.
