A new play from internationally acclaimed writer and director John Godber will be performed for one night only as part of Liverpool Hope’s Cornerstone Festival 2018.

John, who was on the judging panel of the first Liverpool Hope Playwriting Prize and is a former professor of contemporary theatre at the University, was recently recognised in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List.

He was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to the arts. Other famous faces to be recognised in 2018, include Beatles drummer Ringo Starr, broadcaster Eamonn Holmes and former Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.

John’s play The Scary Bikers will be performed at The Capstone Theatre on Saturday 10th March, as part of the annual Cornerstone Festival.

Featuring a week-long programme of events, the festival provides the opportunity to see free performances by national and international artists, as well as talented University graduates.

The Scary Bikers is a comedy about life, love and a bike ride through Europe. The play follows retired miner Don and former private school teacher Carol, who meet at a bereavement group. The pair embark on an adventure through the continent that tests their budding romance, as they reconcile the past, debate the present and worry about the future.
