Annual Conference of the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Centre for War and Peace StudiesMonday 29 June 2015
The Archbishop Desmond Tutu Centre for War and Peace Studies at Liverpool Hope University will host its annual international conference on “The Narratives of Peace and Conflict“ from Wednesday 1st July to Friday 3rd July 2015. The Conference will take place on Hope’s Creative Campus near the city centre.
The conference features an eclectic range of international scholars and practitioners from India, Pakistan, Kenya, Germany, Taiwan, Japan, the USA, and the UK, amongst others.
The aims of the event are to explore narrative approaches to peace and conflict. A key theme of the conference will be the examination of the role of stories and discourses during identity formation, historical understanding, conflict resolution and media coverage of conflict.
As an accompaniment to this event, The Cornerstone Gallery presents the work of three artists that use peace and conflict as subject matter for their work.
As part of the conference programme, the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Centre for War and Peace Studies is also hosting a performance from acclaimed Northern Irish singer-songwriter Steafán Hanvey at the Capstone Theatre on 1st July at 1pm.
