Award nomination for Dr Manuella Blackburn

Manuella Blackburn Wednesday 25 October 2017

Dr Manuella Blackburn, Senior Lecturer in Music, has been nominated for a Computer Space award for her work Snap Happy (2017).

Computer Space is a non-commercial international computer art forum, which “seeks to show modern trends in computer art”.

Dr Blackburn’s work has been recognised in the Computer and Electronic Music category, with the results to be revealed at the awards ceremony in Sofia, Bulgaria.

At the event, Dr Blackburn will give a presentation on her work and demonstrate how it was composed and created with audio editing and processing techniques.

Snap Happy is part of a series of compositions that deal with small particle-like sound material, which is restructured into larger forms.

Dr Blackburn recorded a number of different cameras as source material for this work, included Francis Vose's collection of cameras held at Liverpool Hope University.

With more than 10,000 participants (firms, studios or individual persons) from different countries from all over the world, Computer Space is one of the biggest and most significant events for computer arts in south east Europe.
