Big Lottery win for Social Work, Care and Justice LecturersMonday 26 September 2016
A successful bid for £17,203 has been awarded to Lecturers from the Department of Social Work, Care and Justice Dr Emma Katz, Dr Samantha Page and Dr Lucy Hanson.
The Big Lottery award will fund the team to monitor and evaluate Survivors to Thrivers, a project run by local domestic abuse charity The First Step in Knowsley.
As well as post-crisis support for women with past experiences of domestic abuse, Survivors to Thrivers aims to increase women’s practical skills, through methods such as lessons in IT and DIY home repairs. This skills-building approach may open up new opportunities for survivors as they work to build new lives free from abuse.
Dr Katz said: “We’re excited by the opportunity to work in partnership with this local enterprise. The Hope team’s evaluation of this project may be of national and international significance for the development of services in this important area.”
