Celebratory atmosphere at PGCE Presentation CeremoniesFriday 17 July 2015
There was a jubilant atmosphere on campus as PGCE Presentation Ceremonies were held at Hope Park to celebrate the next generation of teaching professionals.
Family and friends gathered in Hope Chapel to witness candidates receiving their certificates and diplomas following an address from Professor Kenneth Newport, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Dean of Education.
Professor Newport described the ceremonies as a chance to recognise each individual’s story and to celebrate their talents and gifts.
He said: “I trust that your time at Liverpool Hope University has given you the skills, knowledge and inner confidence to begin a career that will make a difference to the lives of young people.”
Prizes were awarded to three candidates who displayed excellence throughout their time at the University. Joanne Williams received the School Direct Primary Prize for Excellence, while Sophie Williams picked up the PGCE Primary Prize for Excellence, and Alexandra Moran was awarded the PGCE Secondary Prize for Excellence.
Sophie said: “I feel really privileged to have received the award. It has topped off a fantastic year of hard work, which I couldn’t have got through without the support of my tutor Fliss Ackroyd. She has been a great support and helped me feel prepared to make the move into teaching.
“I applied to study at Liverpool Hope after hearing about the University from a friend. I’d recently moved to the area after living in the south and was looking for somewhere to do my PGCE. I’ve loved my time at Liverpool Hope and would recommend it to everyone.”
