Dr Manuella Blackburn's music composition 'Ice Breaker' (2015) has been selected for performance in the SIME (semaine internationale de la musique electroacoustiqu) festival at the Charles de Gaulle University – Lille III, France.
The piece was awarded second place by a jury of eight international composers, who reviewed 135 works from 35 countries, and will be performed on Wednesday 20th April.
Dr Blackburn said: “It was an honour to have such a world-renowned international jury listen to my music and award this composition second place in the competition. This is my most recent piece of music and research, and it is fantastic to have an international performance to celebrate its success."
SIME 2016 is a relatively new week-long festival showcasing electroacoustic music, in particular acousmatic music (fixed music) for loudspeaker playback.
