Director of National Museums Liverpool to deliver guest lecture

Challenges facing museums as a result of ongoing cutbacks in public funding will be explored in a guest lecture by Dr David Fleming.

The Director of National Museums Liverpool will present Fighting for Survival: How the modern museum is faring at 5pm on Thursday 13th October in the Capstone Theatre.

In 2001, Dr Fleming became director of National Museums Liverpool (NML) and led a major modernisation programme. This has resulted in NML becoming one of the world’s leading inclusive museum services, with a large and diverse audience.

Dr Fleming is also President of the UK Museums Association and Chairman of the MA’s Ethics Committee. He is Convener of the Social Justice Alliance of Museums (SJAM) and President of the Federation of International Human Rights Museums (FIHRM).

All staff and students are invited to attend the lecture.
