Drama alumni showcase storytelling talentsThursday 12 October 2017
Three Hope Drama graduates put their training to the test as they headlined the Word of Mouth storytelling club, in Manchester.
Sheldon Chadwick, Jem Borsberry, and Sonia Kennedy all studied on the Storytelling pathway at Liverpool Hope University, and are members of Hope Young Storytellers - mentored by Lecturer in Drama Dr Stephe Harrop.
At Word of Mouth, the trio performed a selection of traditional and true-life tales on the theme of 'Travelling Hopefully', creating vivid word-pictures that took listeners from ancient Persia to the perils of Italian plumbing.
Storyteller Honor Giles, one of the organisers of Word of Mouth, said: “It was wonderful to hear tales told with such energy, enthusiasm and confidence, and we wish them well on their storytelling journey to come.”
Dr Stephe Harrop added: “This was a great opportunity for Hope Young Storytellers to take their work to a wider public audience, and to build professional networks that will help them to develop their performance careers in future.”
Word of Mouth is a monthly gathering about storytelling and the oral tradition, welcoming visitors from across the North West to share tales and be entertained.
