Dr Anna Kirpichnikova speaks at leading Russian scientific centreWednesday 8 June 2016
Senior Lecturer in Mathematics Dr Anna Kirpichnikova delivered a keynote lecture at a research workshop held at Russia’s renowned scientific centre Academgorodok in Novosibirsk.
Speaking at the British Council and Russian Foundation for Basic Research Russian-British Workshop on ‘Uncertainty Quantification in Inverse Modelling’, Dr Kirpichnikova addressed 30 scientists from across the two nations.
She said: “The workshop provided a unique opportunity for sharing research expertise and networking. During the workshops early career researchers had the opportunity to present their research and discuss this with established researchers from the UK and partner countries.
“There was a focus on building links for future collaborations and participants were selected on the basis of their research potential and ability to build long-term links.”
Dr Kirpichnikova presented her lecture - Focusing waves in unknown media by modified time reversal iteration - and discussed Big Data analysis and processing, with fellow experts in the field of Inverse Problems and Mathematical Modelling.
It’s hoped the workshop will lead to future collaborations for Dr Kirpichnikova and her colleagues in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
