Gogglebox favourites Leon and June to switch on Christmas lights

Leon and June Wednesday 30 November 2016

Gogglebox favourites Leon and June Bernicoff are set to switch on Liverpool Hope University’s Christmas lights this week.

The much-loved pair will be at Hope Park on Thursday 1st December at 4pm for the big switch on outside the university's Gateway Building entrance.

To add to the Christmas cheer, from 2pm-5pm, festive refreshments will be served and there will be crafts and festive treats for sale on a series of pop up market stalls, including a special appearance from Cheerfully Given.

The event is free, and staff, students and members of the local community are welcome to attend.

Liverpool Hope University’s Christmas lights are becoming a tradition for the university, helping prepare students and staff for the festive season. The university also runs a Christmas decoration competition for students and staff.

Leon and June said: “We’re delighted to be associated with Hope University and are looking forward to spreading some Christmas cheer.”

Dr Penny Haughan, Dean of Students at Liverpool Hope University said: “Our Christmas lights switch on is becoming a tradition, and we are inviting the local community to join us again this year. We are really looking forward to welcoming Leon and June to switch on the lights this year, as they are a firm favourite with our students and staff alike!”
