Graduation 2015: Success for JillFriday 24 July 2015
During her three years at Liverpool Hope, Jill overcame a number of serious health problems, including pancreatitis and pneumonia, to complete her degree in Early Childhood and Education. Studying from her hospital bed, at home, and with the support of academic staff, Jill achieved a 2:2 classification in her degree, an excellent reward for her hard work and determination.
Speaking about her Liverpool Hope experience, Jill said “I chose Liverpool Hope because it was offering me the chance to do what I had always wanted. I started a degree in 2001 but only did the first year. The timetable of study was perfect for me and my family to make it attainable.
“The highlights were realising how much I wanted something and every time something knocked me down, I came back more determined. I had amazing support from my degree office and the tutors. I feel sad to not have these people in my life now as they were the highlight.
“My degree has given me confidence and shown me I am capable of attempting anything. It has made me strong and told me that I should never be deterred.
“I will continue my studies and I am still researching. I will continue to push on for my children's health to improve. I am itching to get back to work but it has to be something amazing and that inspires me.
“My three word summary of Liverpool Hope? Inspiring, liberating and amazing!”
