Hong Kong freedoms explored by Dr Brian Christopher JonesMonday 15 May 2017
A new article by Lecturer in Public Law Dr Brian Christopher Jones explores freedoms in Hong Kong.
Writing for South China Morning Post, Dr Jones asked Should Hong Kong’s Basic Law be scrapped and a new constitution negotiated?
In the piece, he argues that freedoms are eroding in Hong Kong because the Basic Law is a failure.
Dr Jones stated: “…time may be up on the Hong Kong Basic Law, and the erosion of rights and freedoms is becoming more acute; perhaps it is time to renegotiate it, or scrap it altogether.”
